Learning Beyond the Classroom

Learning happens in many different ways — through lessons, questions, conversations, mistakes, experiences and things I explore for myself. This is where I can keep track of what I discover and what I take away from it.

Notice it. Understand it. Use it.

How I’m Learning

I’m still discovering which ways of learning work best for me. These are some approaches I can try and reflect on.

Understand

Try to understand the idea instead of only remembering the answer.

Question

Ask questions when something is unclear or makes me curious.

Connect

Look for connections between a new idea and something I already know.

Practise

Use what I have learned through questions, problems, activities or examples.

Explain

Try explaining an idea in my own words to see whether I really understand it.

Review

Return to important ideas instead of leaving them after the first attempt.

Learning Experiences

Capture important ideas in a way I can understand later.

Questions

Write down what I don't understand or want to explore further.

Practice

Apply what I learned instead of only reading about it.

Try remembering the idea without immediately looking at the answer.

Discussion

Talk through an idea and hear another point of view.

Go beyond the starting point when something makes me curious.
